Revolution & Rebellion Book List

I have had lots of people in the past ask me to give them a list of suggested reading material, and this is my not so short attempt at giving a half-descent reply. I have tried to cover everything from anarchism to animal rights, black and African liberation, feminism, environmentalism, history, anti-religion, people inspired by religion, philosophy, Indian liberation, Marxism, labour organization, people's biographies, drugs, veganism, queer liberation (including trans-issues), current events, foreign policy, anthropology, sociology, psychology etc. The listings are in alphabetical order and generally where there was more than two authors and an editor, I kept just the editor's name to conserve space. My goal is to enrage, enlighten, disturb, maybe even make you cry, but all with the hope of giving you hope for a better future. As Ernesto "Che" Guevara once said ""If you tremble indignation at every injustice, then you are a comrade of mine", Enjoy!

have not included much on the Cuba revolution because I treated it as its own section under radical education. You can find it listed under "the Cuban Revolution in World Politics.

Also it's time for a little legal-speak. I am by no means encouraging people to go out, by these books and do whatever it is that may be inside them. It should be known that in some places, the ideas and/or practices that may be encouraged in any one of these books could quite possibly be illegal. Also many countries, including Bermuda have banned books lists, and I will not be held responsible for someone endangering themselves, or even getting arrested, because of this list, so follow the contents of this list at your own risk.

*Each of the book marked with an * comes from the Verso Book series titled Revolutions in which classic texts by key historical figures are introduced by major contemporary radical writers. Each of the introductions has the goal of re-examining the texts, brining their revolutionary thought to the fore and showing how they are still relevant to the world today, or in the case of some (such as the Gospels) showing how their revolutionary nature has been pushed to the side to suit the needs of those in power. I put this not here at at the bottom to clear up any misconceptions as to the nature of the works, and also because for some of them their titles are misleading, such as the Declaration of Independence book contains more than just that one piece, as it also contains the drafts of it, many of Jefferson's personal letters which flush out his ideas further, and finally letters detailing his thoughts on Africans and American Indians (to prevent one-sided hero sowrship).
